Ingredients

  • 250 g Plain Flour
  • 200 g Oats
  • 250 g Butter (chilled and cubed )
  • 175 g Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 50 g Walnuts (chopped)
  • 2 Bramley Apples
  • ½ Lemon (juice only)
  • 2 tbsp Biscoff Spread

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 °C (170 °C fan/ 375 °F/ Gas 5) and line a 20cm (8") square baking tin with baking paper.
  2. Place the flour and oats into a large mixing bowl and rub in the cold cubed butter with your fingertips until crumbs form.
  3. Stir in the light brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts.
  4. Press two-thirds of the crumble mixture into the prepared tin and pack down tightly with the back of a metal spoon. Set aside while you prepare the apples.
  5. Peel, core and slice the apples and lay them over the top of the crumble base layer. Squeeze over the lemon juice.
  6. Warm the Biscoff spread in the microwave for 20 seconds, and then use a spoon to drizzle it over the apples.
  7. Top with the remainder of the crumble mix and lightly press down with your hand. Bake in the oven for 35 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
