Ingredients
- 5 Pears (peeled, cored and sliced)
- 3 Bramley Apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
- 1 tsp Ground Ginger
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 40 g Light Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Water
- 125 g Plain Flour
- 125 g Oats (porridge oats (not jumbo oats))
- 150 g Light Brown Sugar
- 125 g Butter (melted)
- 1 tsp Crystalised Ginger (chopped)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180β (160Β°fan/ Gas 4/ 350β)
- Place the sliced Bramley apples, sliced pears, ground ginger, cinnamon, and light brown sugar in a heavy-based pan. Add 1 tablespoon of water and cook on a medium heat for 5 minutes until the fruits start to soften (stir frequently to prevent the fruit from sticking to the bottom of the pan).
- Make the crumble topping by placing the plain flour, oats, light brown sugar, and crystalised ginger in a bowl and pouring over the melted butter. Mix with a spoon until crumbles form.
- Spoon the fruit into a 2 litre pie dish and then top with the crumble.
- Bake in the oven for 45 minutes until the crumble is golden brown on top and the fruit is bubbling underneath.
